Sermorelin Injection

Your safety is our first priority. Learn more about key medication details, possible side effects, warnings, and other important information about sermorelin injection below.

Prescribing Information

Sermorelin is a growth hormone-releasing hormone analog that stimulates the pituitary gland to release growth hormone. Earlier branded sermorelin products were approved for limited diagnostic or pediatric growth-related uses, but current compounded sermorelin injections are not FDA-approved finished drug products and are not approved for anti-aging or bodybuilding.

Black Box Warning

Sermorelin injection does not have a current FDA-approved boxed warning for compounded adult use. There is no FDA-approved prescribing label for the compounded wellness or hormone uses commonly marketed today.

Common Side Effects

Common or possible side effects may include:

  • Injection-site pain, redness, or swelling
  • Headache
  • Flushing
  • Dizziness
  • Nausea
  • Sleepiness
  • Changes in taste
  • Itching or rash
  • Joint discomfort
  • Fluid retention

Important Safety Information

Do not use sermorelin if you have a known allergy to sermorelin or any ingredient in the formulation. Tell your provider about pituitary or hypothalamic disease, brain tumors or prior radiation, active or suspected cancer, diabetes, sleep apnea, thyroid disease, pregnancy, or breastfeeding.

Sermorelin can alter growth-hormone and IGF-1 levels. Monitoring may include IGF-1, glucose, thyroid markers, and other tests selected by your provider. Excessive growth-hormone effects may include swelling, joint pain, numbness, carpal-tunnel symptoms, headaches, or changes in blood sugar.

Because the injection is compounded, correct reconstitution, refrigeration, sterility, and dosing are essential. Do not use medication that is cloudy, damaged, expired, or improperly stored.

Seek urgent medical help for severe headache with vision changes, chest pain, trouble breathing, severe swelling, fainting, or an allergic reaction.

To report suspected adverse reactions, contact the FDA at 1-800-FDA-1088 or visit www.fda.gov/medwatch.
